Gallup-McKinley County Schools (GMCS) is aware of recent public discussion regarding the Amira reading assessment and instructional platform used in New Mexico schools.

At this time, GMCS has not received any formal complaints regarding the use of Amira within the district. As with all instructional programs and educational technology, the district remains committed to complying with all requirements established by the New Mexico Public Education Department (PED) and applicable federal and state student privacy laws.

The district is reviewing its practices and data privacy safeguards to protect student information and ensure all educational technology is used responsibly and in compliance with district policy and legal requirements.
